Yongmin Kim is President of POSTECH-Pohang University of Science and Technology (South Korea) . POSTECH was founded in 1986 as the 1st research-oriented university in Korea and in 2012 was ranked first in the Times Higher Education’s “100 under 50” which lists the top 100 universities in the world under 50 years old. Kim has been at the University of Washington – Seattle for nearly 30 years, having joined the faculty in 1982 after completing his doctoral training at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Kim works in the area of medical imaging and computing; he has a joint appointment in the Department of Electrical Engineering and is an adjunct professor of radiology and of computer science and engineering. During his academic career he has received many honors.
