Maria Chiara Carrozza, Minister of Research, to deliver the closing remarks at the Technology Forum

The closing remarks at the Technology Forum will be delivered on Saturday, May 25, at CastelBrando (Cison di Valmarino – Treviso, Italy), by Maria Chiara Carrozza, Minister of Education, Universities and Research of the newly-formed Letta Cabinet.

A robotics engineering expert, not to mention full professor of engineering, including two terms in office as Rector of the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna in Pisa, Minister Carrozza  embodies the spirit of the Technology Forum in full.

“The Minister of Education, Universities and Research must perform a fundamental role in rekindling the nation's hopes and it is with a spirit of service that I shall put my experience to reminding Italians that education and knowledge are the cornerstones to Italy's cultural and economic recovery,” she announced immediately after her appointment.

“We need to help the deserving,” she added, “to study in accordance with the dictates of the Italian Constitution, to put faith in our researchers and offer new motivation to the teaching corps. We must give strength and prospects to companies, building a country which can pick out great areas of investment, research and innovation in industry, agriculture and services. Investing in knowledge means investing in the future, in the only resource which cannot be moved elsewhere to be manufactured at a lower cost, a sector which creates and saves jobs and that is  our major concern.”

And this is the aim of the Technology Forum, which brings together the best forces in the country—in research, enterprise, finances and institutions—to give a new, increased value to the ecosystem of innovation as a fundamental lever for returning to growth.
